Meet Your Dedicated Team
At Forbes AAC, we recognize the value of having individual points of contact while working through the process of procuring an AAC device. We believe it is critical to connect you with a team that specializes in your local region. For this reason, we have teams of Assistive Technology Specialists and Funding Coordinators to manage specific geographic regions of the country.
Kimberly Benyon, M.A., CCC-SLP - Assistive Technology Specialist
Kim is the Assistive technology Specialist handling the state territory of northern Florida.
She completed her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the Florida State University - Go ‘Noles! (even if it’s a rough year … or three). Kim finished her masters at University of South Florida (USF) in Speech Pathology and is currently completing an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Analytics at USF. And, as she says, “… praying I graduate in December 2022”.
Kim unlocked her fire for AAC while working at the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) (Federal tech act program in FL) and with this laser focus on AAC, she followed her pursuit into a variety of work settings including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, school-based, and most recently outpatient rehabilitation. She has worked with both adult and pediatric populations across a variety of diagnoses including TBI, CP, Downs Syndrome, Autism, and ALS. Over the last few years Kim has focused on AAC for patients with ALS including partnering with the USF ALS clinic to provide evaluations and training.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and seven-year-old son. Kim’s family has rescue dog, Major, who keeps them active and loves a good run in the park. When she needs an escape, you can find her at Disney World or in the woods, off-roading with her trusty, Jeep Wrangler, “Shorty”.
