Meet Your Dedicated Team

At Forbes AAC, we recognize the value of having individual points of contact while working through the process of procuring an AAC device.  We believe it is critical to connect you with a team that specializes in your local region.  For this reason, we have teams of Assistive Technology Specialists and Funding Coordinators to manage specific geographic regions of the country.

Danelle Hartman M.S., CCC-SLP - Assistive Technology Specialist

Your AAC partner is Danelle Hartman. She received both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Minot State University; 2009 BS – Communication Sciences and Disorders and 2011 MS – Speech Language Pathology. Her interest in choosing a career in speech language pathology was inspired by the SLPs serving her son and their dedication to helping him achieve his communication goals!

She worked in public education in North Dakota the first two years of her career and one school year at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf after she moved to Minnesota to be near family. Danelle has predominately worked in long term care, skilled nursing, and rehab where she had the opportunity to work with patients with ALS, post stroke rehab, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s.

Danelle’s knowledge of AAC expanded while working with individuals with ALS and giving them a voice. She was able to complete set-up of a new AAC speech generating device from start to finish during this global pandemic; a time when ATS reps were not allowed to enter long term care facilities. In her own words, Danelle shares; “I will never forget when my patient used eye tracking to type the message, ‘You are my hero’. During a time when she was most isolated from her family, I was able to give her back the basic human right of communication. This allowed her to communicate, not only her basic wants and needs with staff, but to remain connected with her family and friends via Skype. This experience was a turning point for me. I became acutely aware of the need for support to SLPs working in the field who find themselves in similar situations.”

When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and anything outdoors. They live in Birchwood Village, MN just a short drive from the Twin Cities. Danelle loves the small-town community while still having access to the city. She loves hiking, camping, and running although walking is becoming more appealing!
